Shutong Li, born in 1990 in Inner Mongolia, China. After completing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Shutong decided to follow his passion for music. Shutong came to the University of New Mexico and completed his Bachelor's of Arts in Music, where he studied orchestra conducting under Mo. Jorge Perez Gomez and was selected as assistant conductor (later as chief conductor) two main local amateur orchestras: Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque and UNM Health Sciences Centers Orchestra. He also founded his own orchestra “Musicians For Musicians”, comprised of music students and advanced community musicians, and organized/conducted 19 concert projects in 16 months featuring 4 Mozart’s operas done in a concert setting and numerous symphonic works from Beethoven to Stravinsky. In May of 2021, Shutong will complete his Master’s in Orchestral Conducting at Bard College Conservatory of Music, under Mo. James Bagwell. Shutong's life-long goal is to serve as many musicians and comunities, to help make the production/promotion/education of orchestral music more efficient, innovative, and fun, and also to serve as many composers worldwide!
